  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1/2 cup milk (any type)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar for icing
  • 2 tbsp melted butter (or vegan butter) for icing
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup for icing

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, salt, and sugar.
  3. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter until the mixture resembles pea-sized crumbs.
  4. Stir in molasses and milk until just combined to form a dough.
  5. Shape the dough into a circle about ¾ inch thick on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  6. Brush the top with milk and sprinkle with sugar.
