  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup chopped pecans
  • ½ cup unsalted butter at room temperature
  • ¼ cup white sugar
  • ¾ cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • ⅔ cup pumpkin puree, blotted
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • ¼ cup maple syrup (for icing)
  • ½ teaspoon ground cloves (for icing)
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon (for icing)
  • ¼ cup chopped pecans (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, ground cloves, ground cinnamon, and salt.
  3. Cream together softened butter, white sugar, and dark brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Mix in egg, maple syrup, and blotted pumpkin puree until well combined.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture until fully blended. Fold in half of the chopped pecans.
  6. Scoop dough onto a baking sheet and bake for 13–15 minutes until lightly golden.
  7. Cool on a rack before icing with maple glaze made from powdered sugar, maple syrup, ground cloves, and cinnamon.
